Appleton C. Woodward graduated from
Middlebury
College

, worked at GrenfelI Mission
in Labrador in 1936, Tufts Medical School, Boston, served his Internship at
Quincy City Hospital, his Residency at Norfolk County Sanitarium and then became
associated with Dr. William O. Faxon of Stoughton in 1940.
Presently, in addition to his private practice, he was the Medical
Examiner for the Norfolk County Medical Examiner for the
Norfolk
County Fifth District. He was a
Fellow of The American Academy of Family Practice, a member of the Mass. Medical
Society, and the Mass. Medical-Legal Society. He had served as Associate Medical
Examiner from 1947 until 1964 when he was appointed Medical Examiner of the
Norfolk County Fifth District by Governor Volpe. He had also served with
'Project Hope' in
Ganado
,
Arizona
at
Sag
Memorial
Hospital
in 1973. He served his home town of
Stoughton
in many capacities, some of which include: Board of Selectmen, School
Committee, School Physician,
Chapter 766 Program, Stoughton High School Athletic Physician, Town Meeting
Representative, Board of Health, School Building Committee, Master Plan
Committee, and as Medical
Examiner for the Selective Board during World War II. He had lived in
Stoughton
for 35 years.
